Student's COVID-19 Story #1

Text

05.15.20 Hi, my name is Reagan B. and i’m going to share my experience during this quarantine. While I am still technically in school, and doing school work I have been able to go outside and do more physical activity. Even with everything changing, and caution rising, I have been able to focus more on myself. My eyes were opened by how things can change in an instant. In a blink of an eye the state of Virginia was closed, small, local businesses were shutting down left and right. Churches were shut down, and live streamed online. Essential businesses that did stay open had limits on how many people could be inside. Customers walked around in masks and gloves, and everybody was required to stay six feet apart. Kids and teens couldn’t hang out with their friends, and families couldn’t visit each other. Children couldn’t go to see their elderly parents in nursing homes, and no visitors were allowed in hospitals. Essential workers like doctors and nurses were risking their own lives to save others, and we try to recognize them the best we can, and we couldn’t be more appreciative. Things are starting to slow down, and more people are going out again. We’re confused on when we’ll be allowed to go back to normal, and if theirs a reason more than spreading the virus we haven’t opened already. When Virginia opens up again I don’t think things will go immediately back to normal. I think some people will still take the precautions and wear masks when they go out. I don’t think the small businesses that were forced to close will be able to stand opening back up. As for myself personally, this has been an experience I will never forget. I see myself telling my children about this one day. I have focused more on my health and also my spiritual relationship. Church closed and everything was different. My routine of waking up, school, practice, homework, sleep, repeat, was all changed and it took some adjustment. I see other people my age still with their friends, but I know it’s safest just to wait until I can go out. I hope that this whole thing opens eyes for those in the future. I hope this is used as a learning experience for kids in schools one day. I feel for every life effected by the virus, and wish there was a way to stop it faster, but until then, I will continue to do my part and hope that if this were to happen ever again you do the same.
